π What is Wellwith?
Wellwith makes it easy to find and share healthy resources and turn them into action! Instead of frantic social media feeds, it's a space for thoughtfully curated content from people and brands you care about. We're new! So to keep things simple, we're zooming in on one practice that benefits several dimensions of well-being: plant-based eating. To start, note which categories below matter most to you...π
From IHA: "IHA exists to meet community needs through the provision of personalized, high quality health and medical services to its patients in a manner which results in high levels of patient satisfaction with clinical quality, services, accessibility and value."
From Wellwith: To amplify that mission, we're making it easy for the IHA community to explore and enjoy one of the healthiest practices there is: plant-based eating. To start, click the drop-downs to see how plant-based eating benefits the outdoors and beyond, and note which categories matter most to you... Note: IHA is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Saint Joseph Mercy Health System and a member of Trinity Health. This page is not monitored by healthcare professionals nor intended to provide medical advice.
πͺ Physical Health
A diet based around plants can help prevent a variety of diseases and promote good health throughout our lives. For athletes, plant-based eating can boost performance and speed recovery.
π§ Mental Health
Plant-based eating appears to influence mental health positively and has been correlated with fewer symptoms of depression, anxiety, stress, and mood disturbance. It may also help prevent Alzheimerβs disease and other forms of dementia.
π Outdoors
Though the connection isn't obvious, the way we currently raise animals for food is devastating our planet. For most people, reducing meat and dairy consumption is the most effective way to reduce our ecological footprint.
πΆ Animals
Eating more plant-based meals lowers demand for meat, dairy and eggs, which dramatically reduces animal suffering on factory farms around the world. As Lyn White puts it, "Since we can lead healthy, happy, fulfilling lives without harming those who share this world with us, why wouldn't we?"
π΅ Saving Money
Contrary to popular belief, plant-based eating doesn't have to be expensive! Staples like beans and grains are some of the least expensive foods around, and frozen produce is cheaper and just as healthy as fresh! Resources like Plant-Based on a Budget make affordable plant-based eating easier than ever, and studies like this one show how significant the savings can be.
